B-LITE FOOD CATERING SERVICES LTD, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom
Effective date: 25 October 2026
Contact: info@blitefood.co.uk
This policy explains what personal information B-Lite collects when you use our website (blitefood.co.uk) and the B-Lite mobile app, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices you have. We are the data controller for this information under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Information we collect
Your account
- Name, email address and password (stored only as a secure, one-way encrypted value).
- Phone number, if you give one.
Your orders and bookings
- What you order, prices, delivery or pickup date and time, and notes you add.
- Delivery address, postcode and phone number for the courier.
- How you paid (for example bank transfer) and any payment reference or receipt you upload. We do not store card numbers.
- Catering enquiries: event details, number of guests, dietary needs and allergies you tell us about.
Location (optional)
- Customers: if you tap "Use my current location" or add an exact pin to a delivery, the app or website uses your phone's location once to fill in your address or place the pin. We only use location while you are using the app, and only when you choose to.
- Couriers (delivery partners): while a courier is on a delivery, the app shares their live location with B-Lite and with the customer they are delivering to, so the customer can follow the delivery on a map. This continues while the phone is locked or another app is open, with a notification showing, and ends when the delivery is finished. Couriers can stop sharing at any time.
Notifications
- If you allow notifications, we store a notification token for your phone so we can tell you when your order is on the way or delivered, and tell couriers about new deliveries.
Messages and reviews
- Messages you send through the contact form or live chat, and reviews you leave on dishes.
Device and usage information
- Basic technical information sent by your browser or phone (such as IP address, device type and app version) to keep the service secure and working, and to know when the app needs updating.
Email activity
- If we email you, we may record whether the email was opened or a link was clicked, so we can improve our messages.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in on the website and the app.
- To take, prepare, deliver and support your orders and catering bookings, including sharing your name, phone number and address with the courier delivering your order.
- To show live delivery tracking (courier location) while your order is on its way.
- To send emails about your orders (confirmations, receipts, delivery updates) and, if you have not unsubscribed, occasional news, offers and reminders such as unpaid order reminders or review requests.
- To answer your questions through the contact form, email or live chat.
- To keep the service safe, prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations, such as keeping sales records.
Our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (orders and your account), our legitimate interests (running and improving B-Lite, keeping it secure, and sending relevant updates to customers), your consent (location, notifications, live chat cookies and marketing where required), and legal obligations (accounting and tax records).
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with services that help us run B-Lite, and only what they need:
- Couriers who deliver your order (name, phone number, delivery address and location pin).
- Hostinger (website hosting and email), where our website, database and email are stored.
- Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, to deliver app notifications.
- Tawk.to, our live chat provider, only if you allow live chat cookies.
- OpenStreetMap and postcodes.io, to show maps and to look up postcodes and distances.
- An AI service (Google Gemini or OpenAI), which may be used to help us draft emails and suggestions. We do not send your payment details to it.
- Professional advisers or authorities, if required by law.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they protect it with safeguards recognised under UK law.
How long we keep it
- Your account details: until you delete your account.
- Order and sales records: six years, because UK law requires us to keep them. If you delete your account, we keep these records without your name and contact details.
- Courier location history: up to 30 days, then it is deleted.
- Messages, catering enquiries and email activity: only for as long as we need them to deal with your request, your orders or a complaint.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app (Profile → Delete my account), on the website (Account → Profile → Delete account), or at blitefood.co.uk/delete-account. Your personal details are deleted straight away.
- Location: you can refuse or turn off location permission in your phone settings at any time. You can still order by typing your address.
- Notifications: you can turn them off in your phone settings.
- Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Cookies and live chat: choose "Essential only" in the cookie banner.
You also have the right to access, correct, move, restrict or object to the use of your information. To do any of these, email info@blitefood.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
B-Lite is not intended for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. Orders must be placed by someone aged 18 or over.
Security
Your information is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), passwords are stored encrypted, and access to customer details is limited to the B-Lite team and the courier handling your delivery.
